Overview
Obscurity was the first project I made in Unreal Engine 4, serving as a good introduction in basic engine elements (Blueprints, art implementation, asset packs, lighting, audio) and common gameplay mechanics (movement, sprinting, interaction, enemy AI, perception).
The player explores an ancient cave system in search of a magical artifact, accidentally awakening an ancient demon along the way that’ll hunt the player.
Key features
Detailed environments
The game consists of several seamlessly connected environments with no loading screens. All level design and lighting was done by me.
Enemy AI
A demon stalks the player with a fair detection system based on player movement and light, and the ability to teleport and ambush the player.
Vision mechanic
The player has a unique ability to briefly look through the demon's eye, assisting them in avoiding its clutches.
